While his primary sports announcing roles for the last 13 years have been rooted in broadcast media, James is equally well versed in public address announcing for in-arena audiences of sporting events, figure skating recitals, and more.

Since first taking the microphone for his high school's baseball and basketball teams in 1999, James' voice echoed through Webster Bank Arena, where he pinch-hit for Bridgeport Sound Tigers PA announcer Alan Longley for a 2016 contest against Albany. Since then, James has kept in-arena audiences informed and engaged at a number of high-level hockey events in the Mid-Atlantic, including:

• the 2018 USA Hockey Tier 1 National Championship, West Chester, Pa.
• the 2019 College Hockey Mid-America Playoffs, Pittsburgh, Pa.
• the 2020 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Playoffs, Hamilton, N.J.
• the 2020 Atlantic Youth Hockey League Playoffs, West Chester, Pa.
• the 2020 Federation Cup, West Chester, Pa.

Aside from his play-by-play and national anthem duties for the University of Delaware hockey teams, James is occasionally pressed into action as the Blue Hens' substitute PA announcer as well.
