James is active in the live music scene all along the eastern seaboard, and is always working to expand his reach. Read below for more information about James's varied and versatile live ensembles, find out where they're playing at the calendar to the right, and email him to book live music for your venue or special event! The options are truly limitless!

Organ Combos

James performs often in duo (organ/drums), trio (duo + sax or guitar), and quartet (duo + two horns or one horn and guitar) settings, with a repertoire which includes his original compositions, classic standards, and jazz interpretations of more recent popular tunes.

In Delaware, James and drummer Jonathan Whitney appear as jw2, while in Maryland, James and drummer Shaun Chesley have re-joined forces of late to present dynamic, hard-hitting performances.

While primarily a jazz organist, James hasn't let his piano chops down! Solo performances can stay true to the "jazz piano" idiom, or they can depart into the "piano bar" vibe, with James playing and singing the music of Billy Joel, Elton John, Chicago, the Beatles, Phil Collins, Hall and Oates, and more!

Racetrack Bugling

"First Call" may only consist of 34 notes, but they're instantly recognizable to any racegoer and an important aspect of the pageantry of a big race. James was the chief bugler at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey from 2013 to 2016, and has had the honour of calling the horses to post for the 2013 Breeders Crown, the 2015 Arlington Million, the 2016 Adios and Meadowlands Pace, and the 2017 Illinois Derby.
